Fun fact
If you hear a little say “nooooooothing” or “maaaaaaaybe” then something devious and cute is probably about to happen
maaaaaaaaybe… maybe things like pushing 6 extra buttons on the elevator… maybe like telling Daddy to close His eyes -and letting Him expect new lingerie then nailing Him with a super soaker water gun… maaaaybe like serving all “green” foods doesn’t actually mean veggies, but green food coloring in cake, cookies, pie and milk…
yeah…. just mmmmmaaaayyyybe ;)
Don’t ya think @her-gift-his-honor
Absolutely @texasred43 !
Or, “nooooothinggg” when you sneak Oreos. But when Daddy tells you to smile, you still have the crumbs caught in your teeth. 🤗
Hey @staff
“Young women dominate the platform, and many turn to it as a place to find more empowering, female-centric takes on pornography and the female body. On Tumblr, one could find pages dedicated to celebrating bodies of all types, could browse sophisticated fetish images curated from a female perspective, and could find GIFs and videos that — unlike most mainstream pornography sites — depict female pleasure.”
Capitalist says what?
“Healthcare should be a right? Pssh, no one in this country is ever going to accept any expensive socialist policies. Now if you’ll excuse me, I must fill my car with subsidized fuel and drive on some roads to pick up my child from public school. They had a fire drill today. Supervised by real firefighters! I bet that was exciting.”

Why Sites Keep Abandoning NSFW content (and maybe always will)
Hosting and keeping a massive site like tumblr up and running - it costs, a lot of money. The formula is simple. The way the internet has worked - and maybe always will is -
- Websites and apps need users - so they offer it for free at first, no rules no restrictions its the wild west and people love it. They come in set up shop. The site grows massive. Livejournal. Facebook. etc etc.
- The site grows and grows, more VC money is granted in order to keep the site running and new functions built in to it. Fattening the calf.
- At some point there has to be a monetization plan, and that means all those millions of users need to pay up. With their data - or their pocket books. Time for the slaughter.
- Most people aren’t about to hand over money to use a website so they pay (maybe unknowingly) with their data. Advertisers take the data the website finds and uses it to sell ads.
- This is why so many sites that allow ad blocking are asking you for direct donations. Wikipedia. Wall Street Journal. Etc. Simply put - we cant have it both ways. We either pay with money or pay with our data and have ads sold to us. Thats the deal. The internet isnt free. Even if the site and apps are “free.”
- Your data is the currency. That’s the tradeoff. However - in the post #metoo era corporations won’t go anywhere near nsfw content. And with apple having power over whats apps are in its store - they’ve become the decider of whats allowed on the internet.
- They always do purge the nsfw so they can make way for more family friendly users and sell ads. These sites are corporate entities. And some are publicly traded stock. The story above is the story of tumblr. Thus - they have to sanitize their image in order to sell ads, turn a profit and satisfy shareholders. OR the sites simply get shuttered.
- I suspect thats whats going to happen to tumblr in the long term. Until sites find a way to reconcile nsfw content and advertisting (because who tf is gonna pay directly - thought that could be where the web is headed) this is the cycle. Myspace, Vine, and soon Snapchat - all the most popular apps and sites will go this way.
- Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk.
I think one day soon the internet will be split into multiple sections. A lot like nation states, but thats another discussion
I wonder if they didn’t have the funds and support to tackle the CP, so they took a scorched earth policy. Get a cheap algorithm to purge out any NSFW content.
CP was never the “real” issue. Those blogs and users can be rooted out and found easily. Once yahoo (and tumblr) got sold to Verizon a lot of staff jumped ship. Hence all the glitches and awful support for the App. Hence your cheap algorithm thought. You’re spot on probably. Scorch and sanitize.
Verizon wants to monetize tumblr as does any corporation that buys a “hip popular” social platform. But the demographics on tumblr don’t support huge monetization. Its teenagers, and twenty smth year olds. They don’t have money. The irony is - if they had any hope of monetization its adults that they can make money off of - like Facebook.
And so the only hope at that point is to get themselves into good enough standing that theyre allowed back into the App store. Sanitize the site and rebuild it with a more family friendly orientation hoping to draw in new users and advertisers follow.
Everyone is moving to twitter but its already bleeding cash, and has been for years. The number of users isnt astronomical by any means. And i don’t see how they could monetize themselves very well - hah I give it less than 3 years.
